The project was mainly oriented on testing of correlation between quantity and quality (size) of free foetal NA in maternal plasma during pregnancy at pathologies and normal controls. Data from analysis of STR loci, SNPs and gonosomal sequences were evaluated.


The aim of the study was to assess cell free foetal DNA (cffDNA) fragmentation rate in pregnant women during the course of pregnancy. Study design: QF PCR efficiency in cffDNA and quantitative analyses in particular cffDNA molecular size fractions.

The project demonstrated a greater yield of cffDNA separation on a silica gel membrane and a significant correlation between the amount of cffDNA and maternal DNA. It was able to quantify cffDNA by the analysis of SNPs in DNA and RNA by STR and by using QF PCR.

Radek Vodička, PhD (University Hospital Olomouc) was the main investigator.
