List of all projects Modernisation of education of clinical reasoning across paediatric disciplines taught at medical faculties in the MEFANET project

Coordinator Coordinator: Schwarz Daniel

Duration Duration: 2012–2015

Education in clinical medicine faces the lack of contacts between students and patients, because the duration of patients’ stay in hospitals is ever shorter. The project therefore innovated the clinical stage of medicine study using virtual patients and other educational tools based on case reports.

The professional community abroad, which is involved in education in medicine, recognises virtual patients as an effective tool for raising competence in clinical reasoning. Virtual patients are particularly suitable for practical education of paediatric subspecialties of general medicine practice, and therefore, students and teachers of this discipline constituted the project’s target group. The implementation team, which consisted of experts on clinical education in medicine and on e-learning IT applications from four medical faculties, defined platforms for virtual patients, case reports and interactive algorithms. It also supported the production of digital contents and procured the transfer of know-how from abroad.
